Chapter 37

When Bartholomew threw open the blacksmith door empty-handed, a stunned Alex demanded, “Where's the dung?”

“It spilled. Back there.” Bartholomew jerked his hand toward the road.

Trying to think fast, Alex tapped his chin once before pointing to a stack of lumber piled high in the center of the room. “Help me move this.”

Once it was all dumped near the road, he picked up an armful of iron and tossed it into the forge.

“If it stays hot, we might be okay.”

Bartholomew held up crossed his fingers and nodded.

Soon fiery embers were atop the anvil and Alex's arms were flying. Without a word, Bartholomew joined him mirroring his every move. The Creation Magic was freaky that way.

Alex tongs gripping hot metal. Fastened more pieces together. Returned to the forge again for more.

Faster they went. Molding, shaping, forming.

A few seconds later they stepped outside and began to mold the wood.

Overhead, Lucretia looked like she was frozen mid-air. Of course, she wasn't. They were just speeding up. The Creation Magic accelerated every movement until they were faster than the speed of light.

Suspending even a dragon's cry.
